Massive Review: Jakks Pacific Giant Godzilla!

After months of waiting and being teased by scalpers from Ebay, my Jakks Pacific Giant Godzilla from Entertainment Earth has finally arrived! There is no question that this is one of the biggest Godzilla toys in existence and I am not disappointed at all! Let's find out together what it's like to receive a massive action figure like this with Mario and the gang's help!

The box alone is already a very good indicator as to how gigantic this Godzilla is! Mario goes to the top of the box to check out this thing's height. He's very careful not to fall off or risk losing a life.

DX Godzilla shows up with a pair of scissors to help Mario open this very mysterious box. "Faster, faster!" cheers Mario.

As the box opens, Mario and DX Godzilla are greeted by the image of a child in awe. DX Godzilla starts feeling insecure because even the image of Giant Godzilla alone is already bigger than him! Mario is oblivious to DX Godzilla's emotions and keeps cheering on.

Since Mario and DX Godzilla can't free Giant Godzilla, they decide to just read the back of the box. Neca Godzilla joins in and practices his reading skills while Giant Godzilla wiggles around in his box to break free.

Giant Godzilla is finally free! DX and Neca Godzilla perform a triple piggyback ride with Mario on top but they can only reach up to his chest!

Now that Giant Godzilla is free, it's time to review him!

Honestly, when I first saw him still inside his box, my first thought was "Now what?!".  I just wasn't expecting him to be this huge! Just look at him! He's already more than half the length of my digital grand piano! I had to push his tail inside one of the shelves just so he wouldn't occupy too much space.

From the side, Giant Godzilla looks pretty good although his spikes are noticeably shorter than his movie counterpart. He still has a good figure though and he is unquestionably Godzilla. His length is just as impressive as his height! Also, even from afar, he has some nice pretty details visible.

From the front, Godzilla is also beautiful to look at, although upon closer inspection, his details seem to have this kind of flattened effect. It's decent detailing work on him, but definitely not on the level of Monsterarts' or Neca's.

With a flash of light, Giant Godzilla seems to have some kind of yellowish tint on his gray colored body. Giant Godzilla's face looks pretty good with different textures on it. His mouth also looks quite interesting but he seems to lack sharp teeth. His tongue is also a little bit too bright, but I think it's pretty cute.

For some reason, his lower body seems to be more detailed than his upper body. You can see a lot of raised and lowered "scales" on his legs as opposed to the almost flat upper body texture.

I think one of the best ways to view this Giant Godzilla is from behind. Just look at that detail! Even from afar you can see the scales on his back pop out. This view somewhat resembles the pose he did in the Godzilla 2014 movie.

It must be the lighting, but it's pretty strange how there's some kind of "cement" texture between his back spikes. Fortunately, it's not very visible. From behind though, his spikes are obviously not pointed.

This is my only complaint about the Giant Godzilla figure. Although he's really supposed to have swinging tail action, what I dislike about it is that the gap between the base tail and the swinging tail is a little too big for my liking. It's like somebody tried to slice his tail off and failed right in the middle. It's not really a big deal but it's something that I hope Jakks Pacific could have designed better and found a way to hide it.

There are also some kind of weird holes on certain places on Giant Godzilla's body. The most obvious is the holes on his crotch! Out of all the places, why there?! It seems like the crotch holes were meant to be for roaring sound effects, but Jakks Pacific ditched the idea. Does Godzilla roar from his crotch? Maybe someone from Jakks Pacific could tells us why they thought that would be the perfect place for Godzilla's roar to come from.

At the bottom of Godzilla's right foot, you can find some information about him. At least he's not flat footed.

A close-up of Giant Godzilla's face reveals that good attention was given into painting and sculpting this part of his body. His eyes are a little beady, but I think that's just the way he really is in the movie.

The Jakks Pacific Giant Godzilla is a pretty good rendition of the iconic character despite lacking in detail on some parts of his body. Obviously, the main selling point of this Giant Godzilla is his size. Where else can you find an affordable Godzilla of this measurement? He also doesn't really have the same amount of articulation as the Neca and Monsterarts variants have. Fortunately, this Giant Godzilla has enough movement to make him seem more lifelike. The quality of the material used in making this Giant Godzilla seems to be good. He feels like he's a durable toy that can last many years as long as you don't abuse or play rough with him too much.

The only other negative that I found about this toy is that some of the gaps that connect his limbs are a little too obvious. This Giant Godzilla doesn't even move a lot unlike the Monsterarts and Neca versions, so I think that Jakks Pacific could have made the gaps a little less visible. It would also have been very cool if the Giant Godzilla was given the ability to roar. They really shouldn't have scrapped that idea because even if it meant the price would increase, he'd still be worth the purchase.

All in all, I recommend this Jakks Pacific Giant Godzilla to both new and old fans of Godzilla. Even if you're not a Godzilla fan, I think you'll enjoy this giant monster of a toy! He looks good, he can do basic movements, he can swing his tail, and he's MASSIVE! The best part is for the size and quality of such a monstrous toy, he's very affordable. Just be sure to order him now before the scalpers buy them all out again in order to sell on Ebay for ridiculous prices!
